Paul F. Schweiger

Arrowhead Native, Accomplished Attorney and Community Leader

Paul Schweiger’s professional accomplishments and record of community service run nearly as deep as his family roots in the Arrowhead Region of Minnesota. In fact, his grandparents came to the Iron Range from Europe 100 years ago to work in the iron mines.

Paul opened the first full-time criminal prosecutor’s office for the St. Louis County Attorney in the Hibbing area. He went into private practice as a litigator, eventually winning several multi-million dollar cases. One case, involving a fatal accident at a railroad crossing, is believed to have resulted in the biggest jury verdict ever reached in Carlton County. Another, involving the negligent design of Interstate 35, resulted in one of the largest awards rendered against the State of Iowa. A Hibbing, Minnesota jury awarded one of Paul’s clients more than one million dollars in a medical malpractice case involving the delayed diagnosis of prostate cancer.

Paul’s credentials as a community leader include past president of the Duluth Trial Lawyers Association, past chairman of the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce, past chairman of Polinsky Rehabilitation Center, past president of the Eleventh District Bar Association, and past member of the Eleventh District Ethics Committee. Paul is certified as a civil trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and the Minnesota State Bar Association. He was also the first attorney in Duluth certified as a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a national merit organization consisting of approximately 700 of the most successful attorneys in America. Paul has also been chosen for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice.
